Their bodies were discovered in their room at a luxurious resort in Belize, on the north-eastern coast of Central America, by hotel staff who used a master key to get inside after the trio had not responded to housekeeping over the weekend, according to authorities.
The women, all in their mid-20s, identified as Wafae El Arar, Imane Mallah and Kaoutar Naqqad, are from just outside of Boston, in Revere, Massachusetts, according to the city's mayor, Patrick M. Keefe Jr., who described them as "daughters, friends, and contributors to our city," according to NBC News.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results.
Speaking to reporters, Belize Police Commissioner Chester Williams said that alcohol and gummies were in the hotel room, and each of the bodies was next to vomit.
